Description	:	John Bailey was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Morley, Iowa, the son of William Joseph and Ethel May (Kohl) Bailey. John graduated from Morley High School in 1946. John served in the United States Navy from May 23, 1946, until March 22, 1948, during the World War II era. On Aug. 7, 1948, John Bailey and Rosemary Gray were united in marriage in Anamosa. He continued his education at the University of Iowa, receiving both his undergraduate degree and medical degree. John graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine on June 10, 1955. John graduated from Morley High School in 1946. John served in the United States Navy from May 23, 1946, until March 22, 1948, during the World War II era. On Aug. 7, 1948, John Bailey and Rosemary Gray were united in marriage in Anamosa. He continued his education at the University of Iowa, receiving both his undergraduate degree and medical degree. John graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine on June 10, 1955. John practiced medicine in Anamosa from 1956 until his retirement in 1993. He also was the Jones County Medical Examiner from January 1961 until November 1993. John was active in the community, serving on the Anamosa school board from 1965 to 1979, with three years as president; the Anamosa Ambulance board, the Anamosa Hospital board and the Iowa Medical Society and the Paint and Palette Club. He was currently serving on the Camp Courageous board of directors, where he had been a member since 1994. John was a charter Fellow of The American Academy of Family Physicians. John enjoyed the love of his life, Rosemary; his family, being a doctor, tending to his green acres on the hill, and cheering on the Hawkeyes through thick and thin. He truly was a good and gentle man who will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosemary; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Katie Bennett.
