Description	:	Another Laurens County Veteran has answered his last roll call. The places that have known Dr. J.R. Culbertson for forty years will know him no more. He departed this life Thursday night at 11 o'clock at his home in at Gray Court. He succumbed after an illness of several months duration. He succumbed after an illness of several months duration. The funeral services was held Friday morning from Dr. Culbertson's last residence, conducted by Rev. W.E. Thayer of Laurens assisted by Rev. J.K. McCain and Rev. R.M. DuBose of Gray Court. The service was concluded at Harmony Baptist church cemetery with the Masonic fraternity officiating, led by R.A. Cooper, junior grand warden of the Grand Lodge of the State. Dr. Culbertson was 63 years old and is survived by his widow who was before her marriage to him, Mrs Hattie White of Greenville county.Dr. Lawrence Culbertson of Washington,Ga., is the only surviving brother, while Mrs Henry Fuller of Honea Path and Mrs Jodie Culbertson of Cross Hill are his sisters. Dr. Culbertson has been a resident of Gray Court for about 25 years and his practice was extensive and attends with great success. He was specially noted for the immense amount of charity work done during his professional career. Prior to locating at Gray Court he had lived at Waterloo and other points in the county. For a number of years he was an active and valued member of the county Medical society and in other ways he was always ready to assist in promoting the interests of the profession of his choice and the welfare of the people of his section generally. He loved Masonry and at the time of his death was master of Schroder Lodge, located at Gray Court. Dr. Culbertson was also a veteran of the Confederate war, having served in Company F.
