He practiced medicine about 6 years at the place of his marriage and 9 years at Washta, Ia. He was a consistent follower of Christ, being baptized by Solomon Grove of the Brethren church, and was unshaken in the knowledge and faith in the promise of Christ of the mansion that his beloved Redeemer has gone to prepare for all that have given their hearts to him. Peace to his ashes. Those left to mourn his loss are his wife, his sister, Rebecca Purcell of Salt Lake City, Utah, and brothers Dr. W. N. McClain, Conrad, In., Thos. McClain, Herbert, Sask., Can., John W. McClain, Traer, Ia., W. S. McClain, Portland, Ore., J. H. McClain, [unreadable], Wash., [unreadable] McClain, Aurelia, Ia. Those having preceded him were his father, mother, one sister, Susanna Cook, and brother Dr. James McClain, Herman McClain and George McClain, and three sisters who died in infancy. The deceased leaves 27 nieces and 10 nephews. One of them, Rev. Alva J. McClain, pastor of the First Brethren church of Philadelphia, Pa., will preach the sermon. He had come to spend a few days at Arnolds Park but arrived the day following his uncle's death. Services were held in the Friends church Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. Rev. Moore assisted in the services.
