Description	:	Philip P. McCrea ; Dr. Philip P. McCrea, born in Bedminster, Lamington, Province of New Jersey May 15th, 1780 son of Lt. Philp McCrea who was killed in Elizabethtown by a sentry. The British surrendered on October 19, 1781. Sentinels were posted along the streets of Elizabethtown and called out to each passerby to account for himself. David Woodruff, (Brother-In-Law) and Lt. Phillip McCrea were walking in the town one night and were hailed by the sentinel. They failed to answer. The sentinel fired and killed Phillip McCrea. Published in the New Jersey Journal June 6th, 1781. He married a New Jersey native, Temperence Wicke Leddel January 8, 1810! She died sadly in child birth 18 days after giving birth to the only child Miss Tempe L.McCrea . After the death of his wife he went to the Maimi Nation of the First Nations of native Americans to learn herbal medicine, explore, trade, and get himself together. In 1821 he purchased a 125 acre property in Independence , Warren County, New Jersey from Gershom Hull. He then went to the new State of Ohio About 1831 to New Jersey he returned again as per the death of Colonel James Henry , his step-father. Joined the Presbyterian Church in Mendam, Morris County, New Jersey by the certificate showing a Dated -Date of June 17th, 1855 A.D. Dr. Philip P. Mc Crea resided after this with his daughter Mrs. Tempe L. Mc Crea Thompson and her husband George Harris Thompson in Gladstone and to Mendham, Morris County, New Jersey. He was buried in the famlies plot. But no Tombstone is found now in 2018 A.D. . Dr. Philip P. McCrea is wriiten in his Grandmothers will, Mrs. Catherine McRea McDonald. .... ... .. .
