He... Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Dr. Roger Lee Larson was born on Saturday; September 2, 1933 in Greenville; Clay County, Iowa. He the son of: Lester Waldo and Virgie B. (Lindgren) Larson. Roger's childhood years were spent in Greenville, Iowa where he received his education, graduating from Greenville/Rossie High School. Following high school, he continued his education at Iowa State University, receiving his Veterinarian degree in 1957. After his schooling, he returned to Greenville, Iowa where he began his practice with his father. Roger married Jane (Pickering) Larson on Sunday; September 14, 1952 in Spencer; Clay County, Iowa. He continued practicing in Greenville, Iowa until 1970, when they moved to Spencer, Iowa where he opened his own practice with other partners and eventually built Clay County Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Larson retired in 1997 after 40 years of practice. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Spencer, Iowa. Dr. Larson was also an active member of his community as a member of the Masonic Lodge, Spencer Area Shrine Club, the Clay County Fair Board as well as the Iowa Veterinary Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting pheasant, duck and deer as well as fishing and golfing. He enjoyed traveling to Africa, France, Italy and throughout the United States. Roger also truly loved attending grandchildren's school events as well as spending time with his wife and family. Dr. Roger Lee Larson, age: 77, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls; Minnehaha County, South Dakota. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Jane of Spencer, Iowa; his two sons: Jeff Larson and his fiancée: Shirley Mason of Jackson; Jackson County, Minnesota and Jerry (Lori) Larson of Spencer, Iowa; his four grandchildren: Sam Larson and his daughter: Serenity, Kristy (Bill) Borth along with their daughter, Jaxon and Mattie and Emma Larson; his one sister: Robin (Aaron) Roy of New Hampshire; also other relatives and a host of many friends. Dr. Larson was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Russell. May they rest in peace. May God bless his memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday; May 1, 2001 with the family present from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Monday; May 2, 2011 at the First Congregational Church with the Reverend Thomas Van Tassell officiating. A private family interment service will be held on Monday morning at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa.
