He was formerly an eye, nose and ear specialist here. Dr. Parris was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Parris, who moved from Maine to Brockton before the turn of the century. From 1914 to 1935 Charles Parris was probation officer of Brockton court. The father died in 1943, the mother in 1950. Dr. Parris was graduated from Clark university in Worcester and medical school at Boston university. For a number of years he taught at the medical school. He also served on the staffs of Massachusetts Memorial hospital, Haynes Memorial hospital and Westboro State hospital. He came to Falmouth after dissolving a practice in Boston in November, 1935. He had closed his Boston office for a long trip in the West and decided to stay away from the city life he disliked. A frequent summer visitor to Pocasset, he knew Falmouth well and so chose to come here. He lived first on Main street and, in 1938, bought the home of Mrs. Charles H. Clapp on Locust street, which he had leased as home and office for two years before that. On April 27, 1939, Dr. Parris married Miss Myrtle K. Handy, daughter of Mrs. Caroline E. Handy of Gifford street and the late Merton L. Handy. An earlier marriage had ended in divorce. Dr. Parris developed tuberculosis and in the summer of 1950 was a patient at Pocasset hospital. In November of that year he and Mrs. Parris auctioned the furnishings of their home, leased the house and went to Tucson, Arizona, hoping the climate would effect a cure. Mrs. Parris died in Tucson in November, 1953. Dr. Parris was a member of American College of Physicians and Surgeons, PACS and Society of Otolaryngoly. He leaves two sons by his first marriage, Richard Smith Parris of Natick and Chandler Parris, and three grandchildren, Richard Lee, Sandra Lee and Don Lawrence, children of Richard Parris. His daughter by his second marriage, Carolyn Parris, is now making her home here with her grandmother, Mrs. Caroline E. Handy. Funeral services were yesterday afternoon at St. Barnabas Memorial church and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. The Rev. Leslie F. Wallace officiated.
