I was born at home in Lunenburg, on June 30, 1933 and was the only child of Hilda and Maurice Zinck. I attended Lunenburg Academy, graduating in 1951 and then entered Dalhousie University, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery. In 1956. Read More	The family of Dr. Sherman M. Zinck, announce his death at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. I was born at home in Lunenburg, on June 30, 1933 and was the only child of Hilda and Maurice Zinck. I attended Lunenburg Academy, graduating in 1951 and then entered Dalhousie University, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery. In 1956. I married my lifelong sweetheart and best friend, Shirley Tanner and together we raised two sons, Christopher and Stephen. I started my practice of dentistry in Rockingham where I remained in various locations until my retirement in 1994. In my early years in Rockingham, I was a member of the Fairview-Rockingham Kiwanis Club and later I joined the Halifax North-West Rotary Club. For sixteen years, I was a member of the Atlantic Swells Barbershop Chorus. When I retired, Shirley and I moved to our vacation home on Herman's Island where we lived for another six years before moving to Lunenburg. We became members of Central United Church in Lunenburg and I joined the choir and became an elder. My family always came first. I especially enjoyed the family activities of RV'ing, playing tennis and fishing. Entertaining friends was also a big part of my life. I always said my best times were in my trailer with my family, either here in Canada or in Florida. My three grand-sons were the delight of my later years. I am survived by Shirley, my wife of fifty-four years; my sons, Christopher (Brenda) of Halifax; Stephen (Carmel) of Mahone Bay; and their three sons, Mitchell, Brenden and Connor; sister-in-law, Linda (Rev. Neil) MacDonald, of West Dublin; and nephews, Andrew, Ian and niece, Susan as well as many cousins. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Heather Robertson and the 4th. floor staff of South Shore Regional Hospital. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Cremation has taken place. A gathering will be held in my memory at Central United Church, on Saturday, October 16th, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum officiating, with a reception to follow. No flowers please.
