Lichter was born April 28, 1900 at St. Lucas, the son of Jacob and Katherine Meyer Lichter. He passed away Jan. 30 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids of a coronary heart attack following major surgery. Dr. Lichter attended school in Waucoma, where he graduated from high school. After a short time in service, he took his pre-medic training at Iowa State College and graduate from the State University of Iowa as doctor of medicine. He then interned at St. Louis, Mo., and shortly after that he came to Edgewood to practice. Dr. Lichter and Bess Arthur were united in marriage June 27, 1933 at Manchester. He lived in Edgewood for over 25 years and made many friends. He was always active in community affairs. He had served as president of the school board, the bank and commercial club. He was interested in Bixby Park and was instrumental in the town looking after that park for the state. He also was a member of the American Medical Association and both the Clayton and Delaware County Medical associations and had served as president of the Clayton County association. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Bess; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Leland of Edgewood and Mrs. Elizabeth Murphy of Denver, Colo., two nephews and two nieces. He will be greatly missed, not only as the community physician, but as a real booster for Edgewood and a good friend and neighbor. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. from the Rhines Funeral Home at Edgewood, conducted by the Rev. Murlin Hansel, pastor of the Congregational Church. Glen Fobes sang, accompanied by Miss Forward. Burial was made in the Edgewood cemetery. 9 Feb. 1956 Manchester
