Born February 25, 1917 and raised in Weems, Va., Warner Ball attended undergraduate school at the Norfolk division of William and Mary College. Read More	Obituary Published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch (Richmond, Va.), August 18, 2010 BALL, Dr. Warner J., 93, of Kenbridge, died on August 10, 2010. Born February 25, 1917 and raised in Weems, Va., Warner Ball attended undergraduate school at the Norfolk division of William and Mary College. He then attended the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in Richmond and received his D.D.S. degree in 1943. After graduation, Dr. Ball served in the U.S. Navy as a dental officer during the closing years of World War II. He met his wife, Pauline Tate, while stationed at the Navy base in Norman, Okla. After release from the Navy in 1946, he moved to Kenbridge, Va. and set up practice. He practiced dentistry in Kenbridge from 1946 until retiring in 1994. He remembered, early in his practice, the biggest need was for extractions, but the addition of fluoride to the Kenbridge town water supply greatly improved dental health. Dr. Ball and other health professionals in the area pushed for the fluoridation of the town water system. This was controversial when it was first introduced. The health professionals of the community reassured people that it was the right decision. Dr. Ball was a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, A Fellow of the American College of Dentist, A Fellow of the Virginia Dental Association, Society of Dentistry for Children and a lifetime member of the Kenbridge Ruritan Club. Dr. Ball is survived by his wife, Pauline Tate Ball; daughter, Norma Ball Burks; son, Warner James Ball Jr.; granddaughter, Candice Burks Rogers; grandson, David Burks; niece, Betty Ball Ebeling; grandnephew, Courtland Carter Ebeling; grandniece, Ashlea Victoria Ebeling; and great-nephews, John C. Bellows and Robert Bellows. Dr. Ball was preceded in death by his father, William Alexander Ball; mother, Mamie James Ball; sisters, Martha Katherine Ball Jett, Emma Virginia Ball Timbs, Lelia Ball Guthrie, Annie Estelle Ball Headley, Beatrice Essie Ball, Maggie Helen Ball; brothers, Archibald Campbell Ball, Durward Jackson Ball, Winter Ball, William Lawrence Ball; nieces, Anne Jett and Mary Ball Jett; daughter, Diane Ball; and an infant son.
