M.D., age 73, of North Platte, died March 22, 2002 at his home after a brief illness. He was born December 14, 1928 to Harold and Alma Boggs Orr at Lewellen, Nebraska. He grew up and attended school there. He joined the United States Army in 1951. After his discharge in 1953, he continued his education at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska. He entered the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1956 and graduated in 1960. Dr. Orr practiced Family Medicine in Burlington, Colorado for ten years. He entered a Diagnostic Radiology residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, Colorado. On completion of his residency in 1973, he joined Gordon Sawyers, M.D. at St. Mary's and Memorial Hospitals in North Platte. Dr. Orr married Jeanne Nyla Armstrong, March 8, 1953, in Big Springs, Nebraska. She preceded him in death July 26, 1980. Dr. Orr and Alice Davis were married August 17, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his wife; children, Teresa (Tim) Mumm of Beatrice, Nebraska and Laura (Milton) Sexson of Ogallala; four grandchildren, Heather (Sean) Stevens of Tampa, Florida, Kim (Doug) Tegtmeier of Beatrice, Lance and Spencer Sexson of Ogallala; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Violet Schweitzer of Ericson, Nebraska and Ruby Stimson of Ogallala and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Irma Stocker and a nephew, Les Brogan. Dr. Orr retired January 31, 2002. He enjoyed the practice of medicine, fishing, reading and ranching. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. The body was cremated. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
