Scott Began His Practice Here Victor: Dr. William Fred Scott, 75, native of Victor, who began the practice of medicine in Marengo, died at his home in Maywood, Ill., Thursday. He had been in his usual good health, but was found dead in bed Thursday morning. Funeral services were conducted at the McAninch funeral home Monday afternoon in charge of the Rev. Mr. Penniwell, who came with the funeral party from Maywood. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Dr. Scott had been chief of staff and head of the department of surgery at the Oak Park hospital since that institution was constructed in 1906. He was also professor of surgery at the college of Medicine, Loyola university in Chicago. He was a Chicago surgeron of considerable note. He was born on a farm southwest of Victor in July, 1869, a son of Robert and Julia Knox Scott. He was graduated from Victor high school with the class of 1887. Upon completing his medical course he came to Marengo to begin the practice of medicine and had offices in the River to River hotel. Soon afterward he moved to Maywood. Among those who survive are the doctor's wife, the former Stella Eastman to whom he married at Victor in 1893, one daughter, Mrs. Lucile Nelson of Maywood; one brother Dal of Silvis, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Milton Capper of Long Beach, Calif. Mrs. Scott was visiting in California at the timeof her husband's demise.
