Duffett died suddenly at his late residence here on Aug. 20, 1974 in his 86th year. Services were held at the Wartman Funeral Home, with Rev. James Clark officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Napanee. Born in Ottawa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Sealy Duffett, he moved to Adolphustown with his family, where he received his early education. Graduating from Napanee Collegiate he attended Queen's University, Kingston, receiving his degree in medicine in 1916. Upon completion of his internship in Hamilton City Hospital he joined the Medical Corps with the rank of Captain. After the First World War he returned to Adolphustown, where he practised medicine until 1928. He then moved to Napanee and continued practising there until his retirement in 1972. Keenly interested in preventive medicine, he served as Medical Health Officer in Adolphustown, Napanee, Bath and Deseronto until the formation of the Health Unit. He initiated the immunization program in the elementary schools in Napanee in 1940. He is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite Couch, and two daughters, Mrs. Edmund Wright (Ruth), Sandhurst, and Mrs. Jack Smail (Mary), Sault Ste. Marie; three granddaughters, Susan and Sherry Wright and Linda Smail; and one brother, Jack Duffett, of Adolphustown.
