FLORIS – Mrs. Daily Groc, 73, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Staats of Floris, where she had lived for two years. She had been bedfast for 18 months. She was born at Mooresville,, Mo., July 1, 1876, the daughter of John C. and Rachel Ann Twoomey. She was married in 1894 [sic], at Chillicothe, Mo., to Walter Harrod, and they were parents of three children. She was later married at Dawn, Mo., to Elmer A. Groc, who preceded her in death. Her son, Glenn Harrod, who lived in Ottumwa, died in 1948 and a daughter, Mrs. May Stevens, also preceded her. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Staats, she leaves a brother, Thomas Twoomey of Cihllicothe, Mo., four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The body is at the Wagler funeral home at Bloomfield. Services will be held at the Floris Christian church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, in charge of the Rev. Fred Sawyer of Bloomfield. Pallbearers will be Newton Fisk, U.S. Heady, William Patterson, C.C. Fiedler, Will Rouch and Gus Koebke. Burial will be in the Floris cemetery. --------------- Obituary From “The Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune,” Chillicothe, Missouri, Monday, October 31, 1949, Page 1: Mrs. Daisy Groce Dies In Iowa She Had Lived at Mooresville and Dawn. Mrs. Daisy Groce, 73, who moved a year and a half ago from Dawn, died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rilley Staats at Floris, Ia. She was born at Mooresville and lived there until her marriage to Elmer Groce. They lived in Dawn for many years. The husband died about 18 months ago, immediately following the death of a son. A daughter also preceded her in death. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Staats; a brother, T.T. Twoomey, 1102 Waples street, Chillicothe, and a niece Mrs. William Simmons, Chillicothe. Funreal [sic] services will be held tomorrow at Ottumwa, Ia.
