Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. James Steen officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Duane was born Sept. 25, 1929, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Lester and Esther (Ferguson) Aduddell. He attended school in Ida Grove, graduating from high school in 1947. He worked for the Ida County Engineer's Office for two years and later was with the Iowa National Guard for 16 years. On June 21, 1952, he married Shirley Lynch in Holstein, Iowa. They moved to Cherokee in 1968, where he worked as a timekeeper and later as the employment manager for Wilson Foods Inc. until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement, the couple moved to Bull Shoals, Ark., then four years later they moved to Bolivar, Mo., then Sioux City for one year and returned to Cherokee in June 2003. He enjoyed woodcarving, spending time with his grandchildren, reading and fishing. Wherever he lived, he was active in church work and also as a Salvation Army volunteer. The couple also worked in Yellowstone National Park for three summers. He also was a beekeeper for about 10 years. He is survived by his wife; two sons and their wives, Dr. Michael and Christine Aduddell of Grand Junction, Colo., and Kim and Karen Aduddell of Cherokee; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Dave Yoder of Sioux City; his grandchildren, Haley and her husband, Chris Miller, Luke Aduddell, Jeremy Aduddell, Melody Aduddell, Bethany Aduddell and Ethan Yoder; a sister and her husband, Phyllis and Bill Eickholt of Cherokee; and a brother and his wife, Richard and Alberta Aduddell of Aurelia, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott in 1958; a brother, Eugene; and a sister, Dolores. [Source: Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa]
