Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 30, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maynard with Rev. Dennis Frank officiating. Visitation: 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard and after 9:30 A.M. Monday at the church. Duane Allen Grimm was born February 12, 1933, at Lamont, Iowa the son of Leslie and Lena (Wessels) Grimm. He graduated from Delhi High School in 1950. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. In 1960, he graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly. On December 1, 1963, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Loomis at Hope Lutheran Church, rural Maynard. Duane was an insurance agent for Lutheran Brotherhood for several years before farming. He served on several boards including the Maynard Coop for 12 years. Duane was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maynard and the Lundbye-Carpenter American Legion Post #245 of Maynard. Duane and Marge retired in Harpers Ferry on the Mississippi River where Duane pursued many hours of fishing and playing cards. They later moved to Eisenach Village in Waverly. In September of 2015, Duane was proud to take the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. as a Korean War Veteran. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, going to the casino and watching sports. Duane is survived by his wife: Marge Grimm of Waverly; 4 sons: Todd Grimm of New Hampton, Terry (Sue) Grimm of Sumner, Randy Grimm of Charles City and Scott (Teresa) Grimm of Webster City; 1 daughter: Shelly Cook of Readlyn; 11 grandchildren: Nicole Grimm, Spencer and Madison Grimm, Aaron and Blane Grimm, Chance Grimm, Sierra and Brianna Cook, Grant, Nicholas and Brok Grober; grandfather to: Mike and Chris Dybevik and Devin Zeiler; 2 brothers: Robert Grimm of Phelps, Wisconsin and Don (Linda) Grimm of Manchester; 1 sister: Joan Stone of Central City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers: Gordon Grimm and Roger Grimm.
