Duane was born December 1, 1928 at home in rural Plainview Nebraska to Clifford Daniel and Mamey Ruth (Graham) Larsen. He had two younger siblings, Eldon Larsen and Janice (Larsen) Houts. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1946. He attended Grace Bible Institute for one semester. Later he attended Omaha Baptist Bible Institute where he met Gertrude (Trudy) Nattrass. They were married June 4, 1949. Duane and Trudy raised their four children on a farm near Brunswick, NE. They sold the farm in 1980 and eventually moved to Papillion, NE, where Trudy died in December, 1995. Duane and Edith (Ehrenberg) Larsen were married in July, 1997, making their home in Lincoln, Nebraska. Throughout his entire adult life Duane was known and loved for his great care and compassion for people. During his years on the farm, he was always available to help his neighbors and for a number of years took in and assisted refugees from Cambodia. Even then he had a special heart for older people who needed help. After moving to Lincoln, he constantly befriended, assisted and cared for older people who needed help or simply someone to talk to, a ministry which he faithfully carried out until shortly before his death. He also deeply loved his family and left them a great legacy of a man who loved God passionately and served God and others sacrificially. Duane is survived by his son Robert and wife Glenyce (Friesen) Larsen of Bloomington, IN, his son Roger's wife, Jan (Friesen/Larsen) Siebert of Newton, KS, his daughter Gretchen Larsen of Edinburg, TX, his daughter Karen and husband Dan Jealouse of Colorado Springs, CO and 10 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Together with his wife Edith, he is also survived by David and wife Devonne (Schroetlin) Ehrenberg of Omaha, NE, Ron and wife Lynn (Scholtens) Ehrenberg of Story City, IA, Wayne and wife Donna (Golumbenski) Ehrenberg of Funk, NE, Tim Ehrenberg and fiancé Cindee Atwood and 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Trudy, his son Roger, and his grandson Jeremy Larsen.
