Duane died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. Duane E. Wolf was born on August 27, 1948 to Oscar and Erma (Brandenburger) Wolf in Aberdeen, SD. He attended country school in Forbes, ND until he started working on his parent's farm in Long Lake, SD. On April 28, 1968, Duane married Marcy Reuther and, together, they moved to Wisconsin. Duane worked as a cable splicer for Michael's Pipeline telephone company before moving back to Forbes where he farmed, owned the bar, and later, worked for Dean Melland and Curt's repair. In 1984, the family moved to Leola where he ran a salvage yard and then for the South Dakota Department of Transportation until his retirement. After retiring, Duane and his son Kevin started 21 Century Recycling Company. Duane enjoyed spending Sundays with his wife, Marcy, and listening to polka music. He liked going for drives with family and spending time with friends for coffee at G's Convenience in Leola. He was a hard worker and had a very loving and understanding heart. Grateful for having shared Duane's life are his wife, Marcy Wolf; children, Kevin Wolf (Jenni) and Shelley Merkel (Dustin); grandchildren: Paityn Wolf, Gracyn Wolf, Emersyn Wolf, Blake Merkel, and Colby Merkel; great-grandson, Layne Merkel; and brother, Jim Wolf.
