Description	:	Duane (Pinky) Lee Jacobs the son of Vernon Edwin and Flora May (Spurling) Jacobs was born February 17, 1940 at Edgar, Nebraska. He departed this life on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Veteran's Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 68 years. He departed this life on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Veteran's Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 68 years. Duane grew up in the Edgar, Nebraska community and graduated from Edgar High School with the class of 1958. After graduation Duane served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War enlisting on November 20, 1962 and was honorably discharged on March 1, 1966. Duane known as Pinky to his friends and family; held many different jobs during his life time including: OK Tire in Edgar, Nebraska from 1966 to 1975. In 1977 Duane became the Kitchen Manager at the Midland's Restaurant and Lounge in Hasting until 1980. Also from 1975 to 1990 Pinky owned and operated the Edgar Laundry Mat and held many rental properties. From 1982 to 1986 Pinky was the Room Supervisor at the Hastings Holiday Inn. From 1986 to 1990 Pink was the Laundry Manager at the Hastings Regional Center, from 1990 to 1994 he became the DPI Services Building Manager at the Hastings Regional Center and from 1994 to January of 2008 he served at the DPI Service Building Manager of the Grand Island Veteran's Home. Duane was a genealogy and historical society buff; he had done most of the research and help create the Edgar, Nebraska Cemetery Directory. He had been a member of the Edgar Volunteer Fire department and was one of the fIrst to become an Edgar EMT and had served on the Edgar City Council. Survivors include his brothers: Gordy Jacobs and wife Linda of Edgar, NE; Arlie Jacobs and wife Joyce of Strong,Arkansas and Russell Jacobs and wife Ada of Stark, Florida; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday 2:00 PM, June 24, 2008 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, NE. Pastor John Green will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, NE.
