Description	:	Aberdeen - Duane “Ding” Marlow Lenling, 61, of Aberdeen died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital. Duane, son of Alice (Hopkins) and Arden Lenling was born on March 30, 1944, at Aberdeen. He spent most of his life in the Brentford community, graduating from Brentford High School in 1963. Read More	Aberdeen - Duane “Ding” Marlow Lenling, 61, of Aberdeen died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital. Duane, son of Alice (Hopkins) and Arden Lenling was born on March 30, 1944, at Aberdeen. He spent most of his life in the Brentford community, graduating from Brentford High School in 1963. He played football, which was an important part of his school days, and was picked first all-conference guard his senior year. He worked for area farmers while in school. He married Terrill Schuman at Aberdeen on Oct. 5, 1963. They started their life together at Huron, S.D. where he worked for the Chrysler Dealer before being hired by Bill Sebring to work at SD Wheat Growers. In the spring of 1966 he transferred to Stratford to work at the SD Wheat Growers elevator there. He became manager on Jan. 1, 1984, where he continued to work until Jan. 1, 2003, when the elevator closed. He retired at that time and moved to Aberdeen in April. Most recently he worked for Arne Svarstad. Duane was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he was a member of the church choir and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stratford where he served as an Elder. “Ding” enjoyed being a member of the Stratford community for 37 years where his smile and “stories” will long be remembered. He was everyone's friend and enjoyed the coffee crew that gathered at the elevator every day. He was town board clerk and a member of the Stratford-Warner Lions Club for a number of years. He spent many enjoyable hours snowmobiling, hunting, and golfing with his friends. He was a member of the Olive Grove Golf Course in Groton. His surprise birthday gift of a Harley in 2001 opened a new world for him. He really enjoyed the times spent with his motorcycle buddies. “Live to ride ride to live.” The pride and joy of his life were his girls. Lisa (Steve) Esser of Custer, S.D., Leila Stange of Stratford, S.D., and Teresa Lenling of Des Moines, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, daughters, and four grandchildren: Carolyn Stange, Carson Stange, Matthew Esser and Lauren Esser. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law: John and Anna Schuman; infant granddaughter: Angelica Esser; and son-in-law: Arlen Stange. His funeral will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Avenue N.E., Aberdeen, on Monday, Feb. 6 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Allan Schoonover officiating. Lunch will be served at the church prior to burial at 1:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, rural Stratford, S.D. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m., Sunday, at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen with a public prayer service being held at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Casket bearers will be Jerry Schley, Al Ryckman, Mark Tolvstad, Doug Stange, Darin Stange, Bernie Jark, Dale Washnok, Kevin Ernst and Arne Svarstad.
