He passed away on April 24, 1999, at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 28 days. He was one of six children in the family. Moor and Ida Hunt Moor on Nov. 26, 1923, at Fairmont. He passed away on April 24, 1999, at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 28 days. He was one of six children in the family. Stub, as he was known to family and friends, attended and graduated from Exeter High School in 1941. He then attended NYA school in Omaha and following graduation worked in the Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha. In 1943, he entered the U. S. Army at Ft. Crook. He served with the 1885 Engineer Aviation Battalion in the Pacific Theater of operations. He served on the islands of Guam and Okinawa for twenty-one months. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, WW II Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged on Feb 14, 1946, and returned home. He was a partner in Hall's Contracting Company from 1949 until his retirement in 1989. Stub was married to Theressa Hays Becker of LIncoln, Nebraska of LIncoln, Nebraska on May 17, 1958 and to them three children were born. Stub believed in hard work and honesty. When not working he could be found in his favorite chair with a book in his hand. He had a love of horses that began in his youth and continued throughout his life. Many hours were spent saddling horses for the nieces and nephews. Family was the center of Stub's life and he enjoyed every minute of time spent with his children and grandchildren. Family reunions always included horses, story-telling and laughter. He made sure that he was always available for his family and they could always depend on his presence when help was needed. Preceding him in death were his parents, Claude and Ida Moor of Exeter. He is survived by his wife, Tess of Exeter; daughters, Denice and husband Glenn Kovanda of Fairmont and Brenda Moor of Exeter; son, Brian Moor of Exeter; grandchildren, Abby and Clayton Kovanda of Fairmont; brother, Verne Moor of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Virginia Oates of Exeter, Dr. Doris Julian of Portland, Ore., Lois Dockter and husband Ray of Westminister, Colo., and Diane Morris and husband Bob of San Jose, Calif.; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 27, 1999, with Father Robert Barnhill and Rev. Robert Brauninger officiating. Agnes Anderson accompanied Arlys McDonald who sang "On Eagle's Wings" and "How Great Thou Art." The congregational hymn was "Battle Hymn of the Republic." Casket bearers were Jim Dockter, Scott Dockter, Mark Dockter, Greg Forsyth, Kurt Oates and Glenn Kovanda. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Wm.
