Description	:	Dunbar “Jack” Blair Caldwell, 93, of Timberville died May 25, 2018 at Avante of Harrisonburg. He was born July 7, 1924 in Mathias, WV and was the son of the late William F. and Mary Dispanet Caldwell. He retired from Rockingham Poultry and was a member of Brighter Days Church in Mt. Jackson, but his home church was Damascus Church of the Brethren in Criders. On March 28, 1944 he married the former Merlee Elizabeth Shell who preceded him in death on February 19, 2002. He was born July 7, 1924 in Mathias, WV and was the son of the late William F. and Mary Dispanet Caldwell. He retired from Rockingham Poultry and was a member of Brighter Days Church in Mt. Jackson, but his home church was Damascus Church of the Brethren in Criders. On March 28, 1944 he married the former Merlee Elizabeth Shell who preceded him in death on February 19, 2002. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Combs and husband Gary of Timberville; son, Blair Caldwell and wife Sarah of Mathias; grandchildren, Deann Combs, Robin Miller and husband Mike, Janel Shafer and husband Danny, Rachel Nguyen and husband Tuan, and Faith Higgins and husband Jay; step-granddaughter April Czimmer and husband Aaron; eight great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremey Caldwell. Pastors Frank Tusing and Olin Bailey will conduct a funeral service 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Damascus Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in the Caldwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may call anytime at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N.
