Obituary- Rail Signalman Dies In Hospital of His Injuries Duncan Murchison, 51, of Portage La Prairie, Man. dies in Winnipeg General Hospital early Sunday as a result of injuries received Jan. 28 in a level crossing accident. Mr. Murchison a Canadian Pacific Railway signalman for 25 years was injured at Portage La Prairie. Mr. Murchison born in St. Pierre, Man. was a member of the Dominion City Branch Canadian Legion. He served with the 12th. Manitoba Dragoons during the Second World War. Surviving are three brothers, Thomas, Edward and Kenneth all of Winnipeg, four sisters, Mrs. Mary Arcand, Mrs. M. Donaldson, and Mrs. Lottie Epps, all of Winnipeg and Miss May Murchinson of Balmoral, Man. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Clark Leatherdale Funeral Home with Rev. W.J. Willis of Portage La Prairie officiating. Burial will follow in the Dominion City following the service at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Dominion City United Church with Rev. W. Beatly officiating. Murchison Service On Wednesday- Funeral service for Duncan Murchison of Portage La Prairie who died Sunday in Winnipeg hospital from injuries suffered here January 25, was held Wednesday, Feb 5. One service was held at 11 a.m. in the Clark Leatherdale Funeral Home Winnipeg, and a second service was held at 2:30 p.m. in the Dominion City United Church. rev. W.J. Willis of the First Baptist Church in Portage La Prairie where Mr. Murchison was a member officiated. Burial will be in the Dominion City Cemetery. An inquest was opened in Portage Monday afternoon and adjourned after the coroner's jury had viewed the body. Obituary also published in the Portage La Prairie Leader, February 6, 1958, Front Page.
