| Description | : | Duncan McArthur participated in the California gold rush of 1849. He found gold in Marysville and Calaveras County. He returned to the States with gold, bought a farm near Cedar Rapids, Iowa and married Freelove Lucore there in 1859. The McArthur family went to Montana Territory during the Montana gold rush and settled in Bozeman where their second child, Mary, was the first white child born in Bozeman.
