DuWayne or "Pete" as everyone called him grew up in the Brookings, SD area and graduated from Brookings High School in 1939. Following his graduation, Pete enlisted in the United States Army where he served during World War II in Sicily and Italy. He was honorably discharged in November of 1946. Pete married Irene Blair in Brookings, SD in 1946 after his return from the military. In 1948 the couple moved to Council Bluffs, IA where Pete worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for ten years. In 1958 they moved to Hartley, IA where they owned and operated Pete's Produce until 1972. The family then moved to Buffalo, MN where they lived until 1997. In 1997 Pete moved to Sioux Falls where they resided until the present. In his free time Pete enjoyed carpentry work, golfing, fishing and playing cards with friends and family. Pete especially loved to spend time with his family. He will be greatly missed in all of their lives.
