Dwight Lee Lord was 94 years of age having been born on October 5, 1915 in McCool Junction, Nebraska the eldest son of R.F. and Gladys (Bellows) Lord. Dwight attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska graduating in January, 1938. He was united in marriage to Doris E. Turner on January 30, 1938. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, worked in a defense plant and taught school in Dixon, Illinois, managed grain elevators in McCool Junction, Nebraska and Callaway, Nebraska and farmed near McCool Junction, Nebraska. He retired from the Callaway (Nebraska) Co-op Elevator in 1977 and pursued the activity of woodworking, making redwood clocks, lamps and tables. Also during retirement he spent a lot of time with a fishing pole in his hands. Dwight along with his brothers and son Bob would travel to Pine Dale, Wyoming each year for a week of trout fishing. Dwight was always active in his community and church, serving on the School Board at both McCool Junction, Nebraska and Callaway, Nebraska and serving as president at McCool Junction, Nebraska. He was a member of the town board of Callaway, Nebraska and a member of the Lions Club. He taught Sunday school at Callaway, Nebraska for many years and was a member of the early Saturday morning Bible Study Group. Dwight loved all sports and was one of the most avid Cornhusker fans ---"Go Big Red"--- in the quietest sort of way. He very seldom missed any Cornhusker sports event either on television or radio. Dwight has left to honor his memory are: sons: Robert (Lea) Lord of Puyallup, Washington; Phillip Lord of Broken Bow, Nebraska and fiancée Ruth Dahl of North Platte, Nebraska; daughters: Kay (Kurt) Kuehnhackl of Davenport, Iowa; Georgia (Jim) Thompson of Minnetonka, Minnesota; brothers: Kenneth (Jeanne) Lord of Escondido, California; Roland (Mildred) Lord of Elkhorn, Nebraska; sisters: Dorothy Hendricks of McCool Junction, Nebraska; Gladys Mae (Glenn) Phillips of Benedict, Nebraska and a host of friends and relatives. Dwight was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: his parents, R. F. and Gladys Lord; his wife, Doris E. Lord and two brother.
