E. Aileen Salisbury
Aileen Salisbury, 95, slipped into the arms of her Savior Jesus on August 7, 2013, at the Hospice Care Center in Longview, Washington.
She was born to Paul and Lillie (Ruse) Worcester April 3, 1918, in Tabor, Iowa. Her parents pastored several churches as she was growing up in Iowa and later in Idaho, serving the Hephzibah Faith Missionary Association which later merged with the Church of the Nazarene. E. Aileen Salisbury
Aileen Salisbury, 95, slipped into the arms of her Savior Jesus on August 7, 2013, at the Hospice Care Center in Longview, Washington.
She was born to Paul and Lillie (Ruse) Worcester April 3, 1918, in Tabor, Iowa. Her parents pastored several churches as she was growing up in Iowa and later in Idaho, serving the Hephzibah Faith Missionary Association which later merged with the Church of the Nazarene. After moving to Idaho, when Aileen was 12 years old, her mother died and she had to take on many of the motherly duties for her older brother, Gerald, and younger siblings Helen and George. In 1933 her father married Marjorie Williams and another brother, Leonard was born. Gerald and George have both gone to be with Jesus.
Leonard and Helen (Williams) both live in Tabor, Iowa.
While her family was pastoring the Marsing Church of the Nazarene, she met and later married Lyman C. Salisbury on November 28, 1940. Their first pastorate was at Midvale, Idaho, followed by pastorates in Ordway, Colorado, Las Animas, Colorado, Las Cruces, New Mexico, Farmington, New Mexico, Kalama, Washington, Big Lake (Mount Vernon), Washington, Amboy, Washington and finally part-time visitation pastors of Kelso Nazarene Church, Kelso, Washington amassing over 42 years of service to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Her husband went home to Jesus in 1998 at which time she moved to Kalama to reside with her daughter, Joann and her husband, Ron Williams.
While living in Midvale, Idaho, their first son, Lyman was born and resides in Kalama, Washington along with his wife, Sandy (Knox). While in Colorado a second son, Eldon and a daughter, Joann were born. Eldon and his wife, Evelyn (Galloway) also reside in Kalama, Washington.
Aileen had a heart for missions and was missionary president for many years. She also taught Sunday school and was craft director at many vacation Bible school sessions and boys and girls camps. Being an ordained minister herself, she actively filled the pulpit in various churches when needed. She had a talent for communicating and was special speaker at several ladies retreats. As a gifted artist, she presented many of her paintings as gifts to graduates, friends and family who cherish them greatly.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses; six grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Salisbury, Dustin (Sandra) Salisbury, Nathan (Saben) Salisbury, Monica (Josh) Nichols, Scott (Trish) Williams and Tyler (Molly) Williams; 14 wonderful great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who all love her dearly.
Family and friends were invited to a celebration memorial service on Monday at the Kalama Nazarene Church in Kalama, Washington.
Special thanks go out to the Community Home Health & Hospice, especially to Hospice nurses, Erica and Coleen, and aide Sandy who cared for her with skill, compassion and professionalism during the last few months of her life. She loved them a lot and the family is indebted to them.
