Description	:	E. Eileen Dittmar, 89, died peacefully at her home June 26, 2015. She was the youngest of three children born to William and Ethel Sieg January 15, 1926. A Seward County resident most of her life, Eileen left Nebraska briefly after graduation from Seward High School to work at the Naval Yards in San Francisco, CA. She was the youngest of three children born to William and Ethel Sieg January 15, 1926. A Seward County resident most of her life, Eileen left Nebraska briefly after graduation from Seward High School to work at the Naval Yards in San Francisco, CA. There she became reacquainted with her future husband. They were married April 25, 1948 at the Methodist Church in Seward. They were blessed with four children. Her family meant the world to her, and she ensured they knew they were loved. The couple recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. They lived in Seward throughout their married lives. Eileen worked for Seward County for many years before she began her first term as the County Assessor; she was elected twice to the office. She held positions in the State Association of County Assessors. Eileen enjoyed her work and proudly served the people of the County. Prior to working for the county, Eileen was a secretary for a local law firm and served as a bookkeeper for Rolfsmeier Motors. She and her husband had a passion for travel and visited many foreign countries, as well as all but seven of the States in America. An avid Husker fan, she followed the University of Nebraska sports teams and anyone could see by her apparel that red was her favorite color. Fond of swimming from an early age, Eileen volunteered as a Water Safety Instructor at the Seward swimming pool over the course of many summers. During the cooler months, she was an avid reader. A member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, she was baptized March 10, 1926. During periods of ill health in recent years, Eileen was comforted and found strength in reading God's word. Eileen was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Merrill and Bea Sieg; her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Glen Oglesby, and a nephew, William (Billy) Sieg. She is survived by her devoted husband, their four children and their spouses, as well as eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a nephew.
