Description	:	E. Keith Hubbard, 79, Defiance, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center. He was born on September 4, 1932, to the late Lester and Faye (Stearns) Hubbard in Defiance, Ohio. He married Janis L. Minck on October 3, 1980, and she survives. Also surviving him are his children, Cindy Hall of Jacksonville, Fla., Tom (Jean) Hubbard, Steve (Jill) Hubbard and Deb (Tim) Mosier, all of Defiance; granddaughters Cori (Eric) Singer and Kim Hall of Jacksonville, Fla., Jennifer (Mark) Gennero of Stuttgart, Germany, Whitney Hubbard of Maumee, Jennay Knight, Kacee Simmons and Ashley Hubbard, all of Defiance; and grandsons Joey Knight, Eric Hubbard, Josh Hubbard and Austin Hubbard, all of Defiance; three great-grandchildren, Addison Singer, A.J. Thrash and Jaedyn Knight; and a brother-in-law, Paul Shannon. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Jane Hubbard; brother, J. Rex Hubbard; and sister, Joanna Shannon. Keith graduated from Defiance High School, attended The Ohio State University and graduated from Defiance College. He worked with and for his father¹s company, Defiance Dairy Co., until 1965. He founded The Hubbard Company in 1951, and served as its chairman and CEO until his death. He has consistently given back to his community in service to Defiance College, serving as trustee and chairman of board, Defiance College Alumni Association, serving as director and president, the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges as trustee, Boy Scouts, serving as trustee and chairman of the Blue Jacket District and trustee and president of Shawnee Council, Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce, Defiance Hospital, Defiance Hospital Foundation, Jaycees, Rotary since 1960 serving as director and president, and many other local, state and national organizations and charities. He was a life member of the Defiance County Fish & Game Club, American Legion, National Rifle Association, AMVETS, Elks, Friends of the Library and The Ohio State University Alumni Association. He was also a member of the Defiance Area Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, VFW, York Rite and Scottish Rite (32 Degree) Masons and the Zenobia Shriners. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1952-1955 during the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of artillery captain. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1964. Keith was the 1978 award recipient of the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award; the 1991 Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award; Defiance College¹s highest honor, the Distinguished Silver Pilgrim Medal in 1998; and the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. He was to be awarded the national North Star Award from the Boy Scouts of America for his distinguished service to youth this coming Saturday, March 3, 2012. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul¹s United Methodist Church in Defiance. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
