A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 22nd at Lerud-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home Chapel in Valley City. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour before the service on Monday afternoon. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery near Valley City in the spring. Earl August Lines was born on August 8, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Earl was the oldest of seven children born to Roy Lines and Myrtle Starke. Earl and his family moved to Oriska, North Dakota where his father Roy owned and operated a farm north of town. Earl graduated from Noltimier Consolidated High School on May 25th 1944. Upon graduation, Earl worked with his father on the family farm until he was called to serve in the United States Army. Earl entered the Army on January 24, 1946 and was assigned to Company A of the 185th Engineer Battalion. Earl was honorably discharged from the Army on February 6th 1947 and returned to Oriska. While in Oriska, Earl studied correspondence courses in the field of television and radio repair. Upon completion, Earl opened up his own repair shop and he fixed televisions for many years throughout Barnes County. Earl was always very quiet and soft spoken. Whenever he came to your home for repairs he never said much and would always leave the damaged parts for the customer to inspect. Earl retired from the repair business in the late eighties and bought a home in Valley City N.D. where he settled into retirement. Earl summered at Lake Ashtabula and spent his spare time hunting and fishing in the Valley City area. He is survived by his sisters, Kathy Kerbaugh of West Fargo N.D., Darlene Lines of Hot Springs S.D., Donna Peterson of Sun City, AZ, and brother, Wes Lines, of Ashville N.C., and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Rose Starke, his parents, Roy and Myrtle Lines, his brother, Kenneth Lines, and his sister, Ruth Lines.
