Earl was born in Lockesburg, Arkansas, on October 8, 1923 to John William Slaton and Rosalene Revels Slaton. He served in the Army Air Corp as an aircraft mechanic. He worked for Arkansas Forestry Commission for 35 years as a heavy equipment operator. Earl was born in Lockesburg, Arkansas, on October 8, 1923 to John William Slaton and Rosalene Revels Slaton. He served in the Army Air Corp as an aircraft mechanic. Mr. Slaton was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Binkley and Corene Latimer of Hooks, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bonita Waits Slaton of Brookewood Nursing Center; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Jim Sharp of Lockesburg and Bonita and Glen Houser of Texarkana, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Earl (Sonny) and Jennie Slaton of Texarkana, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one brother-in-law, James Latimer of Hooks, Texas. Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Slaton will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in the Oddfellows Cemetery in Lockesburg with Ann Holley and Jimmy Sharp officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June11th at the funeral home.
