Mr. Greenwood had been a highly respected resident of Nelson since 1926. Funeral services were conducted at the Nelson Methodist church (sic) at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with a former pastor, the Reverend E.B. Stewart of Sterling, officiating. He was assisted by the church pastor, the Rev. Harold J. Coates. Burial was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic). Earl F. Greenwood, son of John and Agnes Greenwood, was born near Pittsburg, Pa., Dec. 6, 1898, and passed to his eternal home Dec. 16, 1951, at Nelson, Nebr., at the age of 53 years and 10 days. He moved with his parents to a farm near North Platte, Nebr., in 1911 and remained there until coming to Nelson in 1926. On Nov. 24, 1926, he was united in marriage to Rose I. Moss and to this union were born two daughters, Irene and Ann. Earl accepted the Christian Faith early in life and remained faithful to its teachings. His many acts of kindness were often known only to those whom he befriended. A loyal friend, he was never known to refuse those who sought his aid or advice. He was active in those things which make for a better community. Earl was patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past master of the Masonic Lodge, No. 77 A.F. & A.M. Fond of good sports, he was partial to baseball and fishing. He was a wonderful father and a kind, loving husband. His devotion to his family was exceptional. Earl was the custodian of the Nuckolls County Courthouse from 1931 until he entered the employ of the Soil Conservation office in 1944. This position he held at the time of his death. He was also machine operator for Mr. Ira Adams at the Rialto Theatre for many years. His parents and one sister preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Rose, her mother, Mrs. Anna Moss; two daughters, Irene of Lincoln and Ann at home; six brothers, John W., Leo J., Joe and Regis of North Platte; Vincent of Denver, Colo.; Charles of Craig; four sisters, Mrs. Agnes Cooper and Mrs. Frances Piper of North Platte, Nebr.; Mrs. Mary Girkin of California; Mrs. Anna Mae Ferriell of Louiseville, Ky., besides other relatives and a host of friends.
