Description	:	Earl VanNingen collapsed and died suddenly while attended a County Commissioners meeting at the Court House in Canton on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998. He had previously undergone three heart by-pass surgeries. He attained the age of 75 years, two months and nine days. Earl Glenn VanNingen was born at Chancellor, SD on Nov. 24, 1922, the son of John and Florence (Darrow) VanNingen . He grew up near Chancellor and graduated from Chancellor High School in 1942. He then was employed at John Morrel & Co. On Feb. 25, 1945 he was united in marriage to Mary Distad at Sioux Falls. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was employed at the elevator in Davis and then was manager of the grain elevator at Wentworth, SD for three years. They moved to their farm southeast of Lennox where they farmed for 35 years. He also resumed his employment at John Morrell & Co. in Sioux Falls for 26 and one-half years. In 1985 Earl retired and they moved into Lennox. He was a school bus driver for the Lennox School District for 13 years. At the present he as a part-time employee at the Clinical Laboratory of the Midwest at Sioux Valley Hospital. His death ended a marriage of nearly 53 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister in infancy and one brother, Benjamin. Grateful for having shared his life are his widow, Mary; his three children and their spouses: Glenn and Linda VanNingen and LaVeryl and Mary VanNingen, all of Lennox and Betty and David Jacobs of Canton; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; one brother, Robert and his wife, Jean, of Sioux Falls.
