Earl Herman Geu, the son of Joachim Henry and Emma Emelia (Tietjen) Geu, was born on October 14, 1923 on the family farm north of Sunol, NE in Cheyenne County. He attended rural school at District 39 and graduated from Sidney High School in 1941. On December 20, 1948, Earl was united in marriage to Evelyn June Cartwright at the Methodist Church in Whitney, NE. Earl was a lifelong farmer and rancher in Cheyenne County, residing on a farm two miles from his birthplace. He served twenty-nine years on the Board of Directors of the Wheatbelt Public Power District; thirty-five years on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Coop Grain Company; thirty-nine years on the Cheyenne County School Reorganization Committee; and served forty-five years as usher, elder and Board Member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Earl was a gentle man with a firm handshake and friendly smile who loved a good joke.Earl was preceded in death by his parents: Joachim and Emma Geu; brothers: Henry J. Geu of Sidney and Harold L. Geu of Fort Collins, CO and an infant sister: Wilma Geu.
