Earl "Jay" Beaver, age 90, of Sac City, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.
Earl "Jay" Beaver was born November 2, 1920 on a farm near Anita, Iowa, the son of Earl Walter and Mary "Edith" (Butler) Beaver. Growing up, Jay attended country school and later graduated from Anita High School. Jay attended Iowa State College one year before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served with honor and distinction. He graduated in 1949 from Drake University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in business and accounting.

Earl "Jay" Beaver was born November 2, 1920 on a farm near Anita, Iowa, the son of Earl Walter and Mary "Edith" (Butler) Beaver. Growing up, Jay attended country school and later graduated from Anita High School. Jay attended Iowa State College one year before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served with honor and distinction. He graduated in 1949 from Drake University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in business and accounting.
Jay was united in marriage to Dorothy Richter on February 3, 1946, at the United Methodist Church in Sac City, Iowa, where they reared their children: Fred and Mary Lou. Jay and Dorothy were married for 53 years. Jay worked as an accountant with Hamm and Longman and later with Coburn and Son Insurance, until his retirement. Jay was an active member of the United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and served on many community boards. Following retirement, Jay enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and traveling. He liked attending musicals and the theater. Jay also greatly enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage with family and friends.
On January 21, 2006, Jay was united in marriage to Margie (Bentley) Pellersels at the First Presbyterian Church in Sac City and added two sons: David and J.D. to his family. Jay loved his blended families and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Margie Beaver of Sac City, Iowa; son: Fred (Shirley) Beaver of Clive, Iowa; their children: Kelsey (Ben) Huebsch and daughter Charlotte of Shawnee, Kansas; and Whitney Beaver of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter: Mary Lou (Fred) (Beaver) Wittrock of Primghar, Iowa; their children: Adam Wittrock of Primghar, Iowa and Faith Wittrock of Primghar, Iowa; son: David (Janice) Pellersels of Atchison, Kansas; their son: Sean (Lisa) Pellersels and sons Austin and Chase of Billings, Montana; son: J.D. (Esthyr) Pellersels of Sioux City, Iowa; their daughter: Mindy (Wesley) Dickinson of Papillion, Nebraska; and many extended family members and friends. Jay was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Dorothy; sister, Margery Tibken; and brother, Loren Beaver. |
