He was born March 31, 1918 in Wapello County to Tillett and Lena Albertson Blanchard. He married Phyllis Gott Jan. 16, 1965. A resident of Ottumwa all of his life, he worked for the Ottumwa Courier for 37 years as Press Room Foreman and in maintenance retiring in 1981. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former guest member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.... Read More	Earl L. He also was a former member of Holiday Ramblers. Surviving is his wife, Phyllis; 10 children, Judy Shepherd, Dennis (Brenda) Skinner of Sterling, Ill., Larry (Dixie) Skinner of Richland, Florence (James) Clark of Ottumwa, Leslie (Michael) Rounceville of Henderson, N.C., Rita (Tom) Reid of Fairfield, Kristi (Richard) Conley of Ottumwa, Tammie (Jerry) Bainbridge of Ottumwa, Joyce Massey and Jean Alewine; 22 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Greenland of Cedar Rapids and Evelyn Parker of Scottsdale, Ariz. He was preceded in death by four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Chester, Harold and Russell Blanchard and a son-in-law, Jim Shepherd. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Knupp and his son-in-law, James Clark officiating. Published in the Ottumwa Daily Courier on 10/27/2008
