Earl was born August 15, 1920 at Volin, SD to Oliver N. and Ida (Lee) Saugstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Trondhjem Lutheran Church, Volin, SD. Read More	Earl Milford Saugstad, age 92 died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Avera Yankton Care Center, Yankton, SD. Earl was born August 15, 1920 at Volin, SD to Oliver N. and Ida (Lee) Saugstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Trondhjem Lutheran Church, Volin, SD. He attended West Prairie and Lindbergh Grade Schools and graduating in 1939 from Irene High School. He worked for Bank of America, in Madera, CA for 2 years as a bookkeeper and teller. On January 22, 1941, he married Elizabeth (Bette) McManus at Ireton, IA. On June 20, 1943, twin sons, Errol and Garell were born. In July 1943, he went to work for the Freeman Company in Yankton, SD as a machinist and plant manager for 46 years, retiring in March 1989. He served in the United States Army during World War II from June 30, 1944 to January 3, 1946, his rank was Technician Fourth Grade. He was a member of St. John's Masonic Lodge #1 A.F. and A.M. a 32nd degree of Scottish Rite Consistary, El Riad Shrine, Royal Arch Mason, Night Templar, and Lewis & Clark Shrine Club. He was a life member of Moose Lodge #1356, B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 994, member of Roy Anderson American Legion Post #12 and life member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was survived by six grandchildren: Laura (Bill) Stubbs of Olathe, KS, Katie (Eric) Neuman of Denver, CO, Lisa (Gary) Jeffries of Pittsburg, PA, Tim Saugstad of Denver, CO, Jennifer Larsen (Ken Kinzler) of Chicago, IL and Greg (Tammy) Larsen of Tacoma, WA; six great grandchildren, Austin and Ben Stubbs of Olathe, KS, Theo and Sullivan of Denver, CO, Cortney Jeffries of Pittsburg, PA, and Lily Larsen of Chicago, IL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend, Phyllis Erickson of Yankton, SD. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth and sons, Errol and Garell, sisters: Myrtle Knox, Alice Thompson, Gladys Thompson, Inez Gravholt, Fern Larson and Esther Flynn.
