Read More	The Hoxie Sentinel (Kenneth, KS) Thursday, December 12, 1918 OBITUARY OF EARL MORRIS; DIED ON WAY TO FRANCE Earl Morris was born March 3, 1892 at Kearney, Buffalo county, Nebraska, and died October 5, 1918, age 26 years, 7 months and 2 days. He came with his parents to Graham county, Kansas, in 1894, where he resided until in 1913 when he went to Moffat, Colorado. He lived on his homestead until this summer when he came back to be with home folks before being called into the service of his country. On August 9th he entrained for Fort Riley. He was placed in the Medical department and was in training only a short time before going overseas. Word was received that he was stricken with bronchial pneumonia before reaching France, and upon landing was taken to a hospital where he passed away. Earl was sympathetic, loving and kind to all he knew, and always had a cheering word to everyone. His friends loved him for his kindness and manliness. He was anxious to serve his country in France, although this was denied him. Providence decreed that he should sleep beneath the lilies of a nation that he was striving to protect and defend. He was energetic, brave and true to a trust. He was never complaining but always accepted life's misfortunes cheerfully. He leaves a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. William Morris, of Bogue; one sister, Emma, eight brothers --- Howard, Arthur, Frank, LaVerne, Kenneth, Herman, Robert and Harold, all of which reside in the county except LaVerne, who is in the service of his country, and a host of other relatives and friends who deeply mourn his untimely death. His parents and loved ones will long yearn "for the touch of a vanquished hand and the sound of a voice that's still" yet in this sad hour of their sorrow and grief, it is a pleasure and comfort to know that Earl died serving his country for which he gave his last "full measure of devotion." Earl was well known here. He was associated with his brother, H. E., in the management of the White Way Garage and was an industrious young man, well liked by everyone.
