Earl was killed in an auto accident which happened on Highway 16 about fifteen miles west of Omaha on Sunday morning, March 18, 1934, sometime before 3:10 a.m. The deceased was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Kriz, and was born in Weston, June 29, 1914, and was 19 years, eight months and 19 days of age at the time of his death. Earl grew to manhood in this community, attended the Weston schools and graduated with the class of 1932. He was a member of the high school basketball team and was very popular among his school mates. Earl was a fine, upstanding young man and the news of his death came as a great shock to the family, his relatives and hosts of friends. He was a member of the Wahoo DeMolay Lodge and several years ago he united with the Baptist church and was a regular attendant at the Sunday school. All who knew him will miss the courtesy and cheer and kindness which he expressed so freely to all. Rev. W. C. Rundin, of Wahoo, conducted the services at the home and at the Baptist church and gave a sermon of beauty and comfort to the sorrowing family, relatives and friends. At the home the Baptist Ladies quartette sang "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus." The American Legion male quartette of Wahoo sang two numbers and William Christensen sang a solo, "Sometime We'll Understand." The pallbearers were Earl's schoolmates. Active pallbearers were: Neil Samek, Gordon Koudele, Lad. Blazik [Blazek], Stanley Dolezal, Leonard Anderson and William Tomsicek. Honorary pallbearers were: Daniel Dolezal, Peter Rezek, George Svoboda, Henry Dolezal, Edward Bouc and Charles Holubar. Surviving him are: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Kriz; four sisters, Marie, Lillian, Mrs. Lyle Campbell and Jacqueline; and one brother, Ray; and a baby nephew, Gene. One sister, Mrs. Ralph Gross preceded him to the great beyond two years ago. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in this community. The generous floral offerings were very beautiful, interment being in the Weston cemetery.
