The son of George and Margaret Schnetzer, Earl was born March 16, 1927, in Osceola, Mo. Earl enlisted in the army in Kansas City, Mo., July 2, 1945, retiring Aug. 1, 1967, after serving 22 years. He completed two tours of duty in Germany, November 1945 to November 1948 and May 1959 to June 1963. He also completed a tour in Korea in 1953. Read More	Earl William Schnetzer Earl William Schnetzer, 71, of Billings, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at his home. The son of George and Margaret Schnetzer, Earl was born March 16, 1927, in Osceola, Mo. Earl enlisted in the army in Kansas City, Mo., July 2, 1945, retiring Aug. 1, 1967, after serving 22 years. He completed two tours of duty in Germany, November 1945 to November 1948 and May 1959 to June 1963. He also completed a tour in Korea in 1953. While serving stateside, he worked as a recruiter in Kansas, Butte and Billings. After retirement he worked 20 years for the U.S. Army Reserves in Billings from 1970 to 1989. He had attained the rank of 1st Sgt. He married Ursula "Teddy" Florian in Berlin, Germany, Nov. 20, 1948. She preceded him in death, April 7, 1996. Earl was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. An avid fisherman Earl especially enjoyed the time spent fishing with his good friends and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include three children, Evelyn Ricketts and her husband Randy of Cypress, Texas, Earl Wayne Schnetzer and his wife Barby of Hysham, and Debbie Becker and her husband Doug of Laurel; two brothers, Elmer or Renwick, Iowa, and Tom of Blue Springs, Mo.; two sisters, Dorothy Blocker of Independence, Mo., and Margaret Clark of Pueblo, Colo.; and five grandchildren, Camaren Riddle and her husband Kent, Derek and Kirk Schnetzer, and Jon and Shawn Becker. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Dale. Visitation will begin 2 p.m. Tuesday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Alderson Chapel. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Interment with military honors will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.
