Description	:	Earold Dean Parmer, 60, of Van Wert died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at his home. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 103 NE Mill St., in Leon with the Rev. Chuck Graves and the Rev. Steve Eastman officiating. Burial was in Van Wert Cemetery in Van Wert. A memorial fund has been established by the family. Earold Dean Parmer, son of Harold “Bud” Burton Parmer and Thelma (Roberts) Parmer, was born June 17, 1957, in Knoxville. Dean attended Clarke Community Schools. On June 14, 1980, Dean married his first wife, Brenda Ingram. To this union, they had a baby girl, Naomi Jean Parmer. On Sept. 19, 1987, Dean married Cynthia (Steele) Bassett. He worked as a welder, explosive engineer, correctional officer, maintenance mechanic and handy man. Dean is survived by his wife Cindy Parmer of Van Wert; daughter Naomi Jones (Chris Meador) of Osceola; stepchildren, Gregory (Amy) Bassett of Waukee, Holly (Jason) Parker of Urbandale and Christopher Bassett (Shana Palmer) of Des Moines; brothers, Eddie (Ellen) Parmer of Van Wert, Ervin “Bubby” (Vickie) Parmer of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Everett (Julie) Parmer of Van Wert; sisters, Barbara (Karl) Hornef of Van Wert and Carolyn Lewis of Van Wert; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; parents-in-law, Bud and Gloria Steele of Leon; sister-in-law, Christine (Pat) McDonald of Pattonsburg, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Dennis Lewis and nephew John Lewis.
