Passes Away at His Home at Millfield, Sunday MILLFIELD, Sept. 11. – The death of Ebenezer Pratt, one of the oldest and most respected citizens and a pioneer of Dover township, occurred at his home here yesterday morning at 9 o’clock. Death was due to infirmities incident to old age. The deceased was in his eighty-seventh year, having been born on June 19, 1813. He had been a prominent figure in Dover township for many years and had been more or less active in politics. With increasing age his infirmities became more marked, and for the part two years he had been practically helpless. The deceased was born at Marietta and was the son of Azariah Pratt who was a native of Connecticut. His mother was Sarah Nye and was in the fort at Marietta during the progress of the Indian war. Mr. Pratt came to Dover township in 1821 and becoming the possessor of a farm remained here until his long career was brought to a close yesterday when the glow of the autumn sunshine turned the day to a golden Sunday. He was industrious and economical and had accumulated considerable property. In 1835 he was married to Susan Wells whose death occurred several years since. Four daughters survive, Mrs. Mary Wyatt of Missouri, Mrs. Sarah Merrifield of near Indianapolis, Indiana, Miss Panthea who is at home and Mrs. Chester Woodworth of this place. The funeral services will be held tomorrow at 9 o’clock at his late residence, conducted by Rev. Tedrick. Interment will take place at the Nye cemetery at Chauncey.
