Funeral services were held Monday, May 5, at the home and at the First Reformed Church of Hull. Rev. John de Jong, pastor of the Protestant Reformed Church of Hull, of which Mr. Dykstra was a member, officiated af the services. Interment took place in the family plot in Hope Cemetery at Hull, alongside three Dykstra children, who preceded their father in death. Pallbearers were Mr. John Hymans, Mr. Ben Meylink, Mr. Sam Kleinwolterink, Mr. Fred Krommendyk, Mr. Gerrit Brinkman and Mr. Siem Schortinghuis. Dykstra was born in Duurswoude, (Fr.) the Netherlands on May 21, 1887. He passed away on May 2, 1958 at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 2 days. The departed grew up in Diever, Drenthe where his father was a minister in the Gereformeerde Kerk for many years. He arrived in the U.S.A. in the Sheldon vicinity in 1908. Mr. Dykstra married Henrietta Vis, of near Hull, on July 15, 1915. The first two years of their married life they lived near Boyden. He was in the Produce business in Hull for many years while they lived in Perkins. Since 1946 the family has been residing in Hull. From this marriage were born twelve children. Three children: Ena, Harriet and Joe, and two grandchildren, preceded him in death. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Henrietta Dykstra, the following children, Gertrude, Mrs. Albert Brummel of Rock Valley; Herman of Rock Valley; Stella, Mrs. Mart Hoekstra of Sheldon; Peter of Hull; Dick of Hull; Art of Hull; Jeanette, Mrs. Charles Stienstra, of Hull; Ena of Sully, Iowa; Harold of Canton, South Dakota; a stepmother, 91 years of age at Assen; a sister, Ena, at Hoogeveen; a halfbrother Herman and two sisters, Johanna and Margaret, all in the Netherlands; twenty three grandchildren; and a great host of friends, who mourn the deceased. Mr. Dykstra was very well known and loved, not only in Hull but also in many other communities, a witness of which was given by the many friends who attended the funeral services.
