Description	:	Ed (Sonny) Smith, Jr., grandson of Mrs. Margaret Jane Smith of Sharpsville, died Friday at a hospital in Washington following a spinal injury re received during the war while serving with the navy at sea. A patient at the hospital for the past two months, Ed Smith was to have been discharged Sunday, July 21. Mrs. Smith received word of his death Sunday. He attended school in Indianapolis and later lived in Franklin where the Smith family now resides. He had visited in Sharpsville several times. Mrs. Smith formerly lived in Kokomo. Surviving with the parents and grandmother are four brothers; John E.; Denzil L.; Richard and Lawrence Smith; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Gaul; Mrs. Anna Johnson; and Madeline Smith.
