He died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-four. Edgar was born in Morgan Township, Crawford County, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on May 30, 1915, and confirmed on April 7, 1929, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township in rural Charter Oak, Iowa. Read More	OBITUARY Edgar August Robert Bohlmann was born May 6, 1915, the son of Herman and Nellie Sciford Bohlmann. He died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-four. Edgar was born in Morgan Township, Crawford County, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on May 30, 1915, and confirmed on April 7, 1929, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township in rural Charter Oak, Iowa. He also received his education at St. Paul's Lutheran School. On October 12, 1936, he enlisted in the United States Army and served until his Honorable Discharge on October 28, 1945. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 20, 1945. He received an Honorable Discharge on March 31, 1959, having retired as Master Sergeant. During his more than 22 years of military service, he was awarded many service medals, including two bronze stars. He was united in marriage to Herta Schilde of Berlin, Germany, on December 19, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover Township. The couple was blessed with one son. He was a barber in Schleswig, Iowa. He moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and was employed by the Millard, Nebraska, Education Department in the maintenance department. He was also a licensed pilot. In May 2009, he moved to Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Deer hunting and making sausage were favorite activities. He enjoyed ballroom dancing in his later years, and also listening to polka and waltz music. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 645 and V.F.W. Post 3930 of Schleswig, Iowa. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Herta in 1994; one sister, Caroline; and one brother, Ernest. Survivors include one son, Michael and his wife, Michelle; two grandchildren, Todd and Chandra; and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Don and his wife, Marlene; two sisters: Lillie; and Donna and her husband, Frank; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak, Iowa. Rev. Eugene Ernst officiated the service and graveside rites at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hanover Township, Charter Oak. Organist Shirley Stull provided accompaniment for hymns, "How Great Thou Art" and "On Eagles' Wings." Honorary pallbearers were Mark Bohlmann, Todd Bohlmann, Joe Seefeld, Chandra Strazdas, Frank Karas and Joe Mimick. Pallbearers and military honors were by V.F.W. Post 3930 and American Legion Post 645 of Schleswig, Iowa. The family invited everyone to the Charter Oak Community Building for fellowship and lunch served by the St. Paul Ladies Aid.
