The wound at first was not thought to be serious and several times he was reported out of danger. There was a fracture of the jaw bone and the physicians discovered a few days before his death that no union of the broken parts had occurred, and pus forming, blood poisoning resulted. Frank Eastman at the time he was shot was in robust health and a perfect picture of physical manhood. It is only a few years since he commenced business in this city without capital and by his energy and tact, at the time of his death he was the largest dealer in farm implements in this city, if not in the county. He erected the large stone implement house on the corner of Ninth and Church street and his trade increased in ratio with the facilities for doing business. His funeral was held at the M.E. Church last Monday afternoon, the Masons and Workman attending in a body. Rev. T.W. Jeffrey preached the discourse. This community deeply sympathize with the family and relatives in their irrepairable loss. Our city has lost a progressive business man who had just arrived at the prime of life and the expression of sorrow at the death of Frank Eastman is generally in the community.
