He was born June 13, 1926, in Surry County to the late Edgar Jackson Flinchum Sr. and Rena Mae Flinchum Flinchum. He was former owner-operator of Flinchum Oil Co. He was born June 13, 1926, in Surry County to the late Edgar Jackson Flinchum Sr. and Rena Mae Flinchum Flinchum. He was former owner-operator of Flinchum Oil Co. Mr. Flinchum was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and in other capacities. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Hill Flinchum, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Forrest F. Connell and David of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Edgar Jackson Flinchum III and Kaye of Mount Airy; six grandchildren and spouses: Amy and Scott Quesinberry of Mount Airy, Suzanne and Edward Sanchez of San Antonio, Texas, Ed and Haw Shen Flinchum of Nashville, Tenn., Misty and Darren Utt of Mount Airy, Christy and Daniel Goins of Mount Airy, and Chip and Angela Flinchum of Roanoke, Va.; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Sue Mae and Dr. Edward Sutphin of Mount Airy and Geraldine Johnson of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law: Ralph and Ludie Flinchum of Mount Airy and Gilbert and Ruby Flinchum of Mount Airy. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy, with the Rev. Todd Byrd and Dr. Rick Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home until the hour of the memorial service.
