Read More	Obituary from the local Denison, IA newspaper: "Edgar Lee Barber was born at Juneau,WI June 5, 1873, son of Edgar Robert and Eliza Givens Barber and died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital July 21. Barber came to Denison when 10 months old and lived with the exception of two years in his house in North Denison. He was married to Bertha Haskin Aug 2, 1904. Two daughters; Miriam, Mrs. Alvin L. Morris, and Marjorie, Mre. John W. Oerter, were born to this union. He practised architecture in Denison for 58 years. He received his education at the Des Moines college and Art Institute of Chicago. He was elected Fellow of American Institute of Architects in 1921. Barber planned many schools, churches, libraries and business buildings in this section of the state. He was a member of the city council for many years with a particular responsibility for the municipal light plant. He was also a member of the cemetery board. Barber was a member of the First Baptist Church for nearly 70 years and a deacon for half a century. He is survived by his widow, now an invalid; daughters, Mrs. Alvin L. Morris of Salt Lake City, UT, and Mrs. John W. Oerter of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildern, Mrs. Leon Arksey of Seattle, WA, Judith and Ann Morris of Salt Lake City, UT, David, Martha, and Mark Oerter of Pittsburgh, PA. One sister, Mrs. Ada Glenn, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 23, at the Maxwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl J. Spieker in charge. 'Abide With Me' and 'Old Rugged Cross' were sung by Mrs. Allen Nash and played by Mrs. Fred Rabe. Pallbearers were Allen Lyon, R. F. Brandt, Ells Carlson, Wilbur Peterson, David Ballantine, and Fred Diebhard. Interment was made in the Oakland Cemetery.
