Description	:	Edgar L. Harp, 96, of Parsons, formerly of Cedar Vale, died Sept. 22, 2005, at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons where he had resided for the past five years. He had been in failing health. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. Pastor Mark Koch will officiate. The family will receive callers at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 405 Main, Parsons 67357, from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are suggested to the Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund and may be mailed or left at the funeral home. Harp was born Feb. 2, 1909, in Cedar Vale, to Lulu Belle (Jerome) and Ambrose C. Harp. He grew up in Cedar Vale and graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1926. He and Doris Lorene Trigg married March 15, 1931, in Cedar Vale. While they lived in Cedar Vale, he worked at the L.C. Adams Mercantile Co. They later moved to Independence where he worked for the Andrew Johnston Feed Store for several years. In 1951, they moved to Chanute where he worked first at the Farm Service Store and later at the former Pamida store for 11 years before retiring. His wife died in December 1953. He later married Lula Byram, Myrtle Hart, Erma Jerome and Mary Samples, who all preceded him in death. While living in Chanute and Independence, Harp attended the Assembly of God churches. After moving to Parsons in 1995, he attended the Apostolic Pentecostal Church. A son, Daniel Harp, died in 1998. Survivors include two sons, Earl R. Harp, Seguin, Texas, and Ronald W. Harp, Erie; five daughters, Nina J. Perry and Sharon K. Mayfield, both of Chanute, Carol L. Jones, Modesto, Calif., Ann L. Dye, Independence, and Patti L. Likin, Canton; two brothers, Lester C. Harp, Elkhart, and Lewis M. Harp, Independence; 24 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
