Description	:	Edgar Monroe Thompson, son of Robert and Emma Jane Thompson was born on a farm near Chester, Nebraska, on Aug. 19, 1875, and departed this life Feb. 27, 1957, at the Belleville hospital, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 81 years, six months, and eight days. On Dec. 24, 1900, he was married to Zula Edna Randels and to this union seven children were born. On Dec. 24, 1900, he was married to Zula Edna Randels and to this union seven children were born. Mrs. Thompson preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 1919; also an infant daughter, Velma (sic) Belle, on Feb. 17, 1912. He moved to Reynolds, Nebr., Nov. 4, 1891, with his parents and lived there for several years, returning to the Chester community a few years later, where he resided on a farm until 1947, retiring and moving to Chester where he resided until his death. He was a faithful father, being both father and mother after his wife's death, devoting his entire life to his children. Mr. Thompson was a kind, thoughtful neighbor and was always ready to help anyone in need. He leaves to mourn his departure his three sons: Fred of Chester; Floyd of Shawnee, Ks.; Garland of Belleville, Ks.; and three daughters: Inez Hussey of Beaumont, Calif.; Myrtle Dorman of Belleville, Ks.; and Guilia Henrich of Diller; also three sisters: Sarah Chick of Sidney; May Herald of Tryon, Okla.; Fern Schenck of Enid, Okla.; 32 grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren was well as a host of relatives and friends. His parents, three brothers, and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 2, from the Methodist church (sic), Chester, with Dr.W.W. DeBolt officiating. A quartet composed of Mrs. W.W. DeBolt, Mrs. Howard Reed, Donald Eickman and Ival Stutzman sang, accompanied by Mrs. Robert Weary. Casket bearers were Lee Larkins, Howard Young, Arthur Wendling, Ervin Huckins, Robert Weary and Keith Johnson. Interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic).
