The funeral of Edgar Wilbur Farr, son of Judge George Wilbur Farr b. 1875-1957) & Claudia (Seiver) Farr (b. 1878-1952, who died at Fort D. A. Russell, Wyo., took place from the family home, 1603 Pearl Street, Miles City, Montana, at 2PM. Rev Hardy of the Methodist church and Rev. James Forsythe Smith of the Presbyterian church officiated jointly, offering prayer boeth at the home and at the grave. The funeral ceremonies were military in form and were most impressive. The pallbearers were selected from soldiers, some of whom were former comrades of the deceased, and a military escort from Fort Keogh accompanied the remains to the cemetery. The sounding of "Taps" at the grave was one of the most impressive features of the ceremonies. The funeral was one of the largest that has been held in Miles City for some time, which was a deserved tribute to the memory of the young man, whose untimely death brought grief to hundreds of admiring friends throughout the county. The floral contributions were as profuse as they were beautiful... EDGAR WAS LAID TO REST IN THE CUSTER COUNTY CEMETERY ON DECEMBER 22, 1918 in Miles City, Custer County, Montana, USA. FARR & SEIVER BOOKS: There is a BOOK about the FARR family that can be purchased online if you google it. The title, Vi's Secret: A Family's Story. It was written by Elvira's son, Gene F. Ostrom, PH.D., but the Seiver manuscript has his name as, Gene W. Ostrom). There is an error in his book on page 203 because John Seiver was NOT married to Catherine Foltz according to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). This same mistake was made in our SEIVER FAMILY HISTORY manuscript / BOOK by Raymond M. Bell that Katharyn Ardelia (Seiver) Farr (Mrs. Edgar) b. 1920 had published in 1978. It can be purchased online as well. An updated manuscript was done Aug 16, 1982 stating John married Rebecca (Arnold)Seibert, Hotell. I submitted this to apply for my DAR through Rev War Vet, Jacob Seiver, but to no avail. Something is wrong with our family tree. Nonetheless, I am deeply appreciative to Katharyn for her efforts in tracing our family German heritage. Regardless of the errors, it led me to Edgar Wilbur Farr and many more facinating family stories. For that I am thankful. Edgar Wilbur Farr was my 2nd cousin 2x removed.
